HEY, THANKS FOR
TAKING THE TIME

ABOUT ME
My name is Callum Reid
Growing up, in a small town outside of Glasgow, I was always drawn to the creative side of life (aka the dark side!) Whether it was drawing, painting, creative writing - if I was doing anything of the sort I was happy.
I don’t have a design degree or any fancy qualifications to go along with it - I actually have a HNC in politics and sociology, of all things.
So, how did you get into graphic design?
I got my first gig in the political bubble as the communications officer for the youth wing of a political party and while the press side never really interested me I saw a potential to take the digital side and teach myself how to do online content, video editing and graphic design. As with any work you do while starting out, I would today make a lot of changes but through years of hard work, consistency I taught myself to become better and better.
I then got a job within the political party as a content creator where I design graphics, videos, and other content and I’ve played a key role in several campaigns. I’ve also joined a small, supportive team of fellow designers who I’ve learned a lot from and they’ve supported me to continue to grow.
I like to approach every relationship with warmth and sincerity. I want people to feel seen, valued, and understood. After all, I know what it feels like to not feel that way. I don’t always succeed and I make mistakes along the way but I like to think I learn from those.
Yet, behind all this I’m strong, strategic thinker who isn’t afraid to take risks or make bold decisions when the moment calls for it. I know when to push boundaries and challenge conventional ideas, creating solutions that feel fresh, exciting, and impactful. I don’t like to have an opinion on every idea, instead I like to keep my cards close and only speak up when I have something vital to say.
Hang on Callum! What on earth does what you want to do with this page have to do with politics? The two don’t mix!
Well, actually the similarities are in storytelling. You see, every business, organisation and start-up has a story to tell - your story. A good brand design tells that story visually and makes people trust and believe that your business will help them achieve their dreams or needs.
Politics when you look at it from the wider picture with what people say and do (and yes, don’t do) is about convincing you that the vision of the future they have the story they want to tell is worth believing in.
This is why I’m drawn to shows like Doctor Who and Heartstopper or games like God of War and Uncharted. These stories mirror my own belief that growth comes from navigating challenges and learning from your own past.
So what do you want to achieve with this Callum?
I want to push myself outside my comfort zone and start designing for stuff that I’ve never done before, I want to become a better designer.
Would I like to go freelance? Yeah, I’m not gonna hide that, but I know it’s a process and the road to that journey requires me to take risks, learn even more about design. To move forward, I need to push myself to be better.
My personality isn’t all seriousness tho—I’m playful and fun. Whether I’m enjoying a game of cards with family, indulging in my favourite foods, or cracking a light-hearted joke, I want to bring joy people around me.
I have a passion for gaming, tattoo culture, and technology, sci-fi and dogs. I’m a bit of weirdo but that’s just who and how I am.
Ultimately, I’m someone who strives for purpose in everything I do. Success isn’t just defined by my personal achievements but by the impact I have on others.
